On December 5, 2016, Plaz Tech Educational had the pleasure of working with a group of middle school business and technology teachers from DeKalb County in Georgia.
The three-hour “crash” course workshop was designed to get the teachers up and running to be able to immediately use Scratch software and MaKey MaKey circuit boards in their classrooms with their students.
MaKey MaKey was named one of “Best Tech Toys of 2014” by Consumer Reports, “Best of Toy Fair 2014” by Popular Science, and a finalist for “Toy of the Year 2016.” Scratch Software offers endless options for kids to get creative with coding.
Plaz Tech Educational’s MaKey MaKey and Scratch Workshop featured hands-on projects focused on learning MaKey MaKey’s components, building circuits with them, and subsequently integrating Scratch Software to achieve infinite outcomes.
First at the workshop, teachers created a customized keyboard by drawing on a piece of paper designed to work with Tetris. Then, the group worked on a project creating their own customized keyboard out of Play-dough.Finally, the Play-dough keyboard was used to run an interactive Scratch-based computer program corresponding to the keyboard.
MaKey MaKey in conjunction with Scratch, strive to excite young minds through the use of circuitry and open source software. Plaz Tech Educational empowers teachers with practical know-how instruction on using both hardware and software in their own classrooms with their students.
